What You're Looking For
Your vial label shows the concentration - this tells you how much tirzepatide is in each milliliter (mL) of liquid.
Look for: A number followed by "mg/mL" (like 5mg/mL or 10mg/mL)
Why it matters: The concentration determines how much liquid you need to draw into your syringe for each dose. Using the wrong number means getting the wrong dose.
Understanding Your Label
Your pharmacy label might show concentration in different ways. Here are the three most common formats:
Format 1: Standard (mg/mL)

Key rule: Only the tirzepatide number matters. Ignore B12, niacinamide, or other additives.
How to find it:
- Find "Tirzepatide" in the ingredient list
- Note its position (first, second, etc.)
- Use the concentration number in that same position
- In this example: Tirzepatide is first, so use the first number (5 mg/mL)

(Ignore the B12 and its 500 - it doesn't affect your tirzepatide dosing)
If You Have Powder (Reconstitution Needed)
Some pharmacies provide tirzepatide as a powder that you mix with bacteriostatic water.
To find your concentration:
- Check the vial label for total tirzepatide amount (e.g., "10mg")
- Check how much water you're adding (usually 2mL or 3mL)
- Divide: Total mg ÷ Total mL = Concentration
Example:
- Powder vial: 10mg tirzepatide
- Add: 2mL bacteriostatic water
- Calculation: 10mg ÷ 2mL = 5mg/mL

Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Mistake 1: Confusing Total Content with Concentration
Wrong: "My vial says 10mg, so the concentration is 10mg/mL"
Right: A "10mg vial" is the total amount. You need to know the liquid volume:
- 10mg in 2mL = 5mg/mL concentration
- 10mg in 4mL = 2.5mg/mL concentration
❌ Mistake 2: Not Converting Partial mL
Wrong: "2.5mg/0.5mL means 2.5mg/mL"
Right: 0.5mL is half of 1mL, so double it: 2.5mg × 2 = 5mg/mL
❌ Mistake 3: Using Additive Numbers
Wrong: Using "500" from "Tirzepatide/B12: 5/500 mg/mL"
Right: Only use the tirzepatide number (5mg/mL). Ignore B12, niacinamide, glycine, and other additives.
❌ Mistake 4: Mixing Up mg and mcg
Watch out: Some additives are measured in micrograms (mcg) or IU
Remember: Tirzepatide is always in milligrams (mg). If you see "500mcg" on your label, that's an additive, not your tirzepatide concentration.
